5-day event for Hemet students will promote the arts Trinity Lutheran ChurchThe deadline to register is June 29. ■ By Mary Hutton / Contributed Starting in mid-July the Trinity Lutheran Church Arts Exploratorium Committee plans for a 5-day arts exploratorium for incoming pre-K through 6th grade Hemet-area students. The focus will be on the arts of music, painting, fabric crafts, and acting fundamentals. Joni Pikard, Arts Exploratorium Committee member, said that in addition to fun activities, the event will include healthy snacks for the kids. Roughly 40 police officers and firefighters came together at the Salvation Army’s community center to enjoy home-cooked omelettes, coffee, and more. San Jacinto College’s Golden Eagles Jazz Ensemble recently wowed the audience at the San Jacinto Campus with familiar jazz and swing pieces that had the audience on their feet cheering wildly at the end. Residents gather around their lake for several important and traditional festivities including changing of the colors and the annual rubber duck race. Proceeds go to support well-baby clinic Photos by Dennis FletcherEarly morning volunteers. ■ Dennis Fletcher / Contributed Over 50 volunteers from local churches of all denominations worked on Saturday, May 12, the day before Mother’s Day, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in San Jacinto to prepare 2,000 bouquets of roses for sale on Mother’s Day. The bouquets were sold through members at the six churches who participated in the project including St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on the Soboba reservation, Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, St. Paul’s City Church, and Cornerstone Church. San Jacinto / College On May 12, the Recycled Art & Fashion Show handed out awards to four aspiring designers. The event offered a gallery exhibit and exciting runway show featuring wildly expressive, eco-friendly art and fashion. The 6th annual event, supported by the Mt. San Jacinto College (MSJC) Foundation, invited design entries from MSJC students and community members. Thirty-five models strutted fashions on a runway to high-energy music. (more…)

Several local artists found their inspiration on Saturday, April 28 at the Hemet Valley Art Association’s Pop Up Art Show, held at Hemet Valley Mall.
