File PhotoGov. Jerry Brown announced he was seeking treatment for a recurrence of prostate cancer. ■ Staff Reports / The Valley Chronicle Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. will undergo further treatment for prostate cancer in late February and early March. Brown, 78, was originally treated for prostate cancer five years ago. Dr. Eric Small, Brown’s oncologist at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center, said Brown’s prognosis is excellent. “Fortunately this is not extensive disease, can be readily treated with a short course of radiotherapy, and there are not expected to be any significant side effects.” Brown’s office said he would continue his full work schedule.
