Valentine’s Day was the theme, Paris the destination, and love was on everyone’s mind.
It was “all aboard” for a fantastic flight to France on the evening of Feb. 11. It was like seeing the Notre Dame Cathedral and River Seine from the open wide windows of Claude Terrail’s La Tour d’Argent restaurant overlooking the City of Light.
New culture has arrived in our quiet little village, courtesy of Patricia Yepremian and her daughter-in-law Giovanna and all the wonderful staff that makes Destination Coffee Bar & Bistro a night spot of beauty and ambiance after dark. As they say in the theatre — The House was sold out!
This event, I am reliably assured by Ms. Yepremian, is only the first of a regular take-off to new destinations that should thrill everyone with a cultural bent. The doors opened promptly at 6:30 p.m., as guests were welcomed with a flute of sparkling Champagne. Diners were seated by party and table, and the music of France permeated the atmosphere like an essence of passionate perfumes.
We were only at the beginning of a five course dinner when Giovanna Yepremian transformed into Edith Piaf, thrilling us with her signature “La Vie en rose.” Interspersed with an ambiance of hearts and flowers, guests enjoyed romantic music as Giovanna and Andrew McCune (as a handsome vagabond with Sinatra and Darin in his soul) regaled us with solos — Giovanna also thrilled and filled the room with “Night and Day” and a soulful rendition of “At Last.” Andrew kept to a lover’s pattern with “Just In Time,” “Beyond The Sea,” and a rousing rendition of “Witchcraft.”
The Menu — Lovers in Paris — Course Prix Fixe Menu – all courses served with white or red wine.
