Hemet’s Traffic and Parking Commission reappointed Steve Covington, who is now chairman; Farrah Fowler, and Donald Funkhouser. The Planning Commission received Tiffany Smith as the replacement for the seat previously held by Michael Sanchez and reappointed Vince Overmeyer and John Gifford, with Gifford serving as chairman.
Connie Hall left her seat on the Parks Commission, and Michael Darrow will take her place. Rich Jackson and Ed Burden were reappointed. All appointees serve two-year terms, which expire April 1, 2019.
In water news, Lake Hemet Municipal Water District is accepting applications for the seat vacated by Cornelius T. Schouten, who resigned March 16. Schouten resigned his seat because he no longer lives within the boundaries of his district, Division 1. Applications must be received by April 10 at noon.
The Division 1 provisional appointee will serve the remaining 20 months of Schouten’s term until it goes to election in November 2018. The provisional appointee may participate and pull papers to run for the normal four-year term.
All eligible and qualified applicants will be interviewed at the Regularly Scheduled Meeting of the Governing Board on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 2 p.m. The successful candidate will be officially sworn in at the conclusion of the meeting.
