The Hemet Heritage Foundations invites you to join us for an evening of sharing your most memorable stories and tales from bygone days. Come to the Diamond Valley Middle School Library (Rm. 117), 291 W. Chambers St. in Hemet on Monday, May 8 at 7 p.m. Share and enjoy a night of remembering what was hilarious, incredible or “really true” around here in days of yore!


Moments in Time: 1937 San Jacinto Landing of Trans-Polar Soviet Flight

Jack Warneke will give a free presentation May 11 at the Valle Vista Library about three Soviet aviators who in 1937 completed a transpolar flight from Moscow in 62 hours and 17 minutes, landing in San Jacinto and establishing a new world’s nonstop distance record of 6,305 miles. The Valle Vista Library is located at 25757 Fairview Ave., Valle Vista (corner of Florida and Fairview avenues). Appropriate for all ages. Change Required to perform at DVAC

Change Required will perform May 6 at the Diamond Valley Arts Center, located at 123 N. Harvard St., Hemet. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the show starting at 7 p.m. Admission is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. Student tickets are $10 presale and $15 at the door. Change Required is a high energy Country/Rock styled music group.


Veterans University at Palm Springs Convention Center

Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) will host the 2nd annual Veterans University on May 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Program starts at 9 a.m. Tickets are free; space is limited. The event will include healthcare and disability benefits, mental health, transportation, and employment services for veterans. MSJC Spring Dance Concert: SJC Grooves

Concert dates and times are May 4, 5, 6, 7:30 p.m. and May 7, 2:30 pm at the San Jacinto Campus Theatre, Bldg. 1500 located at 1499 N. State St., San Jacinto. General Admission: $10; Students and Seniors: $8; Veterans: $5; Children under 12: free, but concert is recommended for mature audiences. For reservations: 951-487-3790. The SJC Grooves dance concert showcases the creative talents of student dancers performing in the original work of the San Jacinto Campus dance faculty as well as selected student choreography. Cinco de Mayo Festival

San Jacinto is hosting a Cinco de Mayo Block Party on May 6 from 4-8 p.m. on Main Street. There will be food, fun, music, vendors, dancing and more! San Jacinto Council-member Crystal Ruiz and Mayor Pro Tem Alonso Ledezma are working with community leaders to put on this event.


“Ramona” at the Ramona Bowl

Pawsability 4 Veterans hosts golf tournament May 6

A golf tournament to benefit military veterans will be held on May 6 at Golden Era Golf Course. The tournament will raise funds to allow Pawsability Golf, a non-profit organization, to provide a free golf clinic for veterans and their families on Veterans Day. San Jacinto Chamber of Commerce Installation Dinner & Awards Banquet

The Installation Dinner and Awards Banquet will be held at The Anchor Bar Club Restaurant on Friday, May 12. Cocktail reception at 6 p.m., dinner and event program at 7 p.m., dancing starts at 8 p.m. $35 per person, or a table for 10 is $300. Formal attire required. RSVP to 951-654-1645.


NAMI Mt. San Jacinto – Golf Classic at Golden Era Golf Course

The event will be held on Friday, May 19 at the Golden Era Golf Course located at 19871 Gilman Springs Rd, San Jacinto CA 92583. 8 a.m. registration. 9am Shot-Gun start. Entry fee: Individual is $40 and Team of 4 is $150. The fee includes green fee, cart, goody bag, 50/50 raffle, gift raffle and door prizes.
