Hemet residential structure fire garners massive response

Cal/Fire Riverside, Soboba Fire Department and Hemet Fire Department sent 9 engines to combat a residential structure fire in the 40300 block of East Stetson Avenue in an unincorporated area of Hemet on May 22.

A structure fire in the 40300 block of East Stetson Avenue in the unincorporated area of Hemet required 31 firefighters and 9 engine units to extinguish the May 22 blaze.
Firefighters from Cal Fire/Riverside, Hemet Fire Department and Soboba Fire Department arrived at the scene to find a fully-involved structure fire on a residential property.
The fire spread to an RV and at least two vehicles, destroying both and damaging an adjacent home. Power lines were also damaged and Southern California Edison was summoned to de-energize the lines. Southern California Gas also responded and shut down the utilities. Neighbors were left without gas and electrical power for several hours.
Crews had the fire under control in approximately 35 to 40 minutes and no injuries were reported. One family was displaced and at the time the cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation.
