Dehydrated hikers rescued The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD) received a call of two distressed hikers on the north face of Tahquitz Rock on June 24 at about 6:30 p.m. The Department’s Aviation Unit was called and successfully located the hikers. With the assistance of the Riverside Mountain Rescue Unit, a hoist operation was initiated and both hikers were safely recovered. The hikers lacked a sufficient supply of water and were suffering from dehydration. Please be reminded to carry extra water when engaged in vigorous activities during the warm summer months, especially while participating in outdoor activities.
