Casa Loca: Insane Asylum Haunt
Troupe of Lost Souls Entertainment and the San Jacinto Chamber of Commerce present “Casa Loca” mental hospital haunt from Oct. 25 – Oct. 31 from 7-10 p.m., Farmer’s Corner, 2575 S. San Jacinto St., San Jacinto (at Menlo Avenue). Admission is $10 per person. “Casa Loca” is directed by Rick Baker. A free haunted house for kids 11 years and younger will run on Friday, Oct. 27 from 3:30 -6 p.m. only during the Candy Corner event. For more information, call 323-328-3618.


Hemet Elementary Fall Festival
Celebrate the fall season and see the brand new Hemet Elementary school from 4-6:30 p.m. Oct. 27. The Fall Festival hosts carnival games, prizes, food, and lots of fun. Bring your spare change, appetite, and sense of adventure to 633 E. Kimball Ave., Hemet.


Boo at the Bowl

Paint drop-off event
Get rid of your old paint Oct. 28 from 8 a.m.–12 p.m. at the Hemet Corporate Yard, 3777 Industrial Ave. This is a rain or shine event. You may bring most types of paint, stain and varnish. Businesses that generate less than 220 pounds (about 20-30 gallons) of hazardous waste per month may bring any amount of latex or oil-based paint. Businesses that generate more than 220 pounds per month may bring any amount of latex paint, but oil-based paint will not be accepted. 855-724-6809.


NAMI 5K Walk
Check-in for the NAMI 5K walk at Diamond Valley Lake is at 8:30 a.m., Oct. 28. The pre-walk program begins at 10 a.m., and the walk starts at 10:30 a.m. Diamond Valley Lake is located at 2615 Angler Ave., Hemet. It is free to walk. There is a $5 parking fee. Assistance League of Hemacinto Fashion Show
Show starts at 11:30 a.m on Oct. 28 at Miller-Jones Mortuary, 1501 W. Florida Ave. (parking in back). General admission is $20 and includes a luncheon with fashions from the Assistance League Thrift Shop. Hosted by Las Madrinas to benefit their Teen Parents Support Program. Family Harvest Festival

Destination Halloween Costume Contest

Hemet Woman’s Club Holiday Bazaar
Peruse more than 50 tables of unique handcrafted items at the Hemet Woman’s Club Holiday Bazaar at the Colonial Country Club on Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m., 601 N. Kirby St., Hemet. Items include jewelry, holiday gifts, decorations and more. Opportunity drawings for local merchant gift certificate and Disneyland ticket raffle drawing. Friendship Club bake sale and hot dogs, chips and soda will be sold. Proceeds benefit the Hemet Woman’s Club educational and community programs.

Caregiver Support Group

MSJC’s Veterans Day Remembrance events
MSJC will host two Veterans events, one on Wednesday, Nov. 8 from 2 – 4 p.m. at the San Jacinto Campus, 1499 N. State St., San Jacinto. The second will be on Thursday, Nov. 9 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Menifee Valley Campus, 28237 La Piedra Road, Menifee. EMWD public hearing on water and sewer rates
Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) will conduct a public hearing on Nov. 15 at 9 a.m. The EMWD Board of Directors will conduct a public hearing to consider changes to the water and sewer rate structures and rates. The proposed changes are based on a cost of service study that was completed and adopted by the Board in March 2017. Any customers or property owners may appear at the hearing to make comments regarding the proposed change. To file an opposition, property owners and tenants of real property who are directly liable to pay water bills may submit a written proposal. Written protests may be mailed or delivered in person to Eastern Municipal Water District, Attention: 2017 Proposed Rates, P.O. Box 8300, Perris, Ca. 92572-8300. Protests must include your name, parcel number and/or service address and your signature. All written protests must be received prior to the conclusion of the public hearing. Hemet Senior Computer Club
The club meets the third Monday of every month from 10 a.m.–noon at Valley-Wide Valle Vista Recreation Center. The club is open to anyone in the Hemet/San Jacinto area who would like to learn and share knowledge of computers, tablets, smartphones, etc. Valley-Wide Recreation Center, 43935 E. Hemet Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group
