Celebrate Recovery meetings

Celebrate Recovery meets every week at the following locations:
Mondays, 6:30 p.m., San Jacinto Assembly of God, 300 W. First St., San Jacinto; Tuesdays, 6 p.m., Hemet Christian Assembly, 602 St. John Place, Hemet; Tuesdays, 7 p.m., Community Christian Church, 41762 Stetson Ave., Hemet; Saturdays, 6 p.m., Hemet Valley Baptist Church, 1480 N. Kirby St., San Jacinto.

Caregiver support group

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church will host an eight-week Caregiver Support Group on Wednesdays from 3 – 4:30 p.m ending on Nov. 29. Meetings will be facilitated by Linda Caricato Capps, MS, GC-C. Gibbel Park Veterans Day

The city of Hemet presents The Valley Veterans Day Celebration on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Gibbel Park, 2500 W. Florida Ave., Hemet. Ceremony begins at 9 a.m. with events in the park running until 3 p.m. and will include arts and crafts, car show, food vendors and more.

Day of free golf for veterans

Are you a military veteran? Golden Era Productions Golf Course is hosting its 10th annual Veterans Day Golf to honor our veterans for their service to our country. Continental breakfast, lunch and ceremony included. Special Veterans Day ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at the clubhouse and will include World War II plane flyovers, bagpipers, riderless horse, Hemet Posse Color Guard, “Taps” and “The Star Spangled Banner.” Veterans, friends and family invited for ceremony with complimentary lunch to follow. Two golf flights available. First has a check-in time of 7 a.m. with shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. Check in time for the second flight is noon for shotgun start at 1 p.m. Golden Era Productions Golf Course, 19871 Gilman Springs Rd., San Jacinto. Musical Chain Gang at DVAC

Join Diamond Valley Arts Center, 123 N. Harvard St. in Hemet, at 7 p.m. on Nov. 11. $20 general admission, $15 members, $5 student presale, $10 student at the door. When The Russians Landed – The 1937 Flight

Speaker Jack Warneke will recount the incredible polar flight of three Russian aviators from Moscow to San Jacinto flying a giant single-engine ANT 25 “bomber.” Their flight has been celebrated both here and in Russia and Mr. Warneke will tell us all about it with vintage photos, a news recording and the Warneke’s recent commemorative trip to Russia. Please join us for this Hemet Heritage Program this coming Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Diamond Valley Middle School Library (Room 117), 291 W. Chambers St., Hemet.

EMWD public hearing on water and sewer rates

Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) will conduct a public hearing on Nov. 15 at 9 a.m. to consider changes to the water and sewer rate structures and rates. The proposed changes are based on a cost of service study that was completed and adopted by the Board in March 2017. Any customers or property owners may appear at the hearing to make comments regarding the proposed change. To file an opposition, property owners and tenants of real property who are directly liable to pay water bills may submit a written protest, which may be mailed or delivered in person to Eastern Municipal Water District, Attention: 2017 Proposed Rates, P.O. Box 8300, Perris, Ca. 92572-8300. Protests must include your name, parcel number and/or service address and your signature. Annual Turkey Trot Family Fun Run

Run will be held on Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Diamond Valley Lake Soccer Fields, 1801 Angler Ave. Fees vary. Annual family 5k run/walk. Call 951-926-5917 for details.

Sylvan Learning Center hosts Robotics Workshop

Workshop will be held on Nov. 18 from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m., Sylvan Learning Center, 1505 W. Florida Ave., Suite A. Workshop is open to kids in grades 1-6 and is held the third Saturday of each month. $49 per session. Call 951-765-1171 for more information.

Salvation Army Red Kettle Kickoff

Dinner will be Nov. 18 from 6 – 7:30 p.m at the Salvation Army, 340 S. Palm Ave., Hemet. Cost is $25 per person. Annual fundraising dinner will kick off the Salvation Army’s holiday fundraising season with dinner and dessert, entertainment, live music, silent auction and Santa Claus. Interfaith Thanksgiving Service

Service will be on Nov. 19 at 4:30 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 26340 Soboba St. The service is free. “Celebrating an Abundance of Peace and Unity” is the theme of the Hemet/San Jacinto Interfaith Council’s annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service. Festivities include a performance by the Interfaith Choir, refreshments & fellowship as well as displays by several faith communities.

Hemet Senior Computer Club

The club meets the third Monday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon at Valley-Wide Valle Vista Recreation Center. The club is open to anyone in the Hemet/San Jacinto area who would like to learn and share knowledge of computers, tablets, smartphones, etc. Valley-Wide Recreation Center, 43935 E. Hemet Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group

The group will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 14 from 2 – 3:30 p.m. at The Simpson Center, 305 E. Devonshire, Hemet. If you or a loved one is suffering from this disease, please consider joining the group for a time of support, insight and new friendships. Call 951-926-7800 for more information.
