Robotics workshop
A workshop focusing on robotics for kids will take place Dec. 16 from 9:30–11:30 a.m. at the Sylvan Learning Center, 1505 W. Florida Ave, Suite A in Hemet. Cost is $49 per session and for children grades 1–6. Kids build models out of LEGOs and animate them with WeDo software. Workshops are the third Saturday of each month. Acrylic paint party
Join the party on Dec. 16 from 1–4 p.m. at the Hemet Valley Art Association Gallery, 144 N. Harvard St., Hemet. Admission is $25 per person for ages 12 and up. Santa Workshop at Destination Coffee House
Get your picture taken with Santa, sing Christmas carols, decorate an ornament and cookie, and much more from 6–8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, at Destination Coffee House & Bistro, 100 W. Florida Ave., Hemet. $8 per child. Workshops are every half hour. Call 951-652-0040 to reserve your time block.

Rocky Mountain Christmas
Jim Currey returns to the Hemet Historic Theatre with his signature look and sound of the legendary John Denver Dec. 16 from 7–9 p.m., HHT, 216 E. Florida Ave., Hemet. $22 presale tickets, $25 day of the show. For more information, call 951-658-5950.

Jingle Jog Kettle Run
From 9 a.m.–noon on Dec. 17, The Salvation Army in Hemet is holding a fundraiser for its kettle drive at West Valley High School, 3401 Mustang Way, Hemet. The “Jingle Jog Kettle Run” will have a 5K, 1K and an Elf Run for children ages 12 and under. Participants are encouraged to dress up as a Christmas character or don holiday colors. The registration fees are $25 for the 5K, $20 for the 1K, and $20 for the Elf Run. Participants will receive a t-shirt. The winner of each event will take home a medal.

MSJC Golden Eagles Jazz Ensemble
Performance will be Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. at the MSJC San Jacinto Campus Theatre, 1499 N. State Street, San Jacinto. $6 general admission, $5 seniors and veterans, $4 student. The ensemble is under the direction of Stephen Vaughan and will present its holiday concert with songs for the season. Free parking. You can reach the box office at 951-487-3790.
Valley Vocal Ensemble
On Dec. 17 at 3 p.m., The Valley Vocal Ensemble will perform holiday music at Diamond Valley Arts Center, 123 N. Harvard St., Hemet. $10 general admission. Selections will include arrangements of “The Holly and the Ivy”, “The Candlelight Canon”, “Carol of the Bells”, Mark Hayes’ “Magnificat” and more. Call 951-652-3822 for more information.

Hemet Senior Computer Club
The club meets the third Monday of every month from 10 a.m.–noon at Valley-Wide Valle Vista Recreation Center. The club is open to anyone in the Hemet/San Jacinto area who would like to learn and share knowledge of computers, tablets, smartphones, etc. Valley-Wide Recreation Center, 43935 E. Celebrate Recovery meetings

Bereavement group

Family storytime at the Hemet Public Library
Storytime will be held on Dec. 15 at 3:30 p.m. at the Hemet Public Library, 300 E. Latham Ave, Hemet. There will be stories and a crafts.

Hemet Library hosts Children’s Winter Read-a-thon
Now through Jan. 13, children ages 3–14 can read five books and receive a reward. Participants can earn up to three rewards. For more information, call 951-765-2440. The Library is located at 300 E. Latham Ave, Hemet.

Pass area veterans expo
The expo honors all branches of the military and will be held on Jan. 27 from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. at the Beaumont Civic Center, 550 E. 6th St., Beaumont. It is open to the public. Explore the many benefits and services for veterans and/or their families through different agencies and organizations that will be present. Refreshments will be available.
