Just as springtime reveals the land awakening to new life, Easter reveals our awakening to a new consciousness and the infinite possibilities available to us. Clearly, Jesus attained the Christ Consciousness, which in turn, brought forward the resurrection—the most significant event of this Easter holiday season. Jesus, the Christ, became one with God and all the capabilities of God were his. His attainment of the atonement or at-one-ment, demonstrated the possibility for all of mankind to accomplish the same.
Through that event, life was transformed for all. Just like Jesus, we are created with the same potential. It is inherent in each of us. Jesus was the first. You’ll remember his words: “I am the way, the truth, and the light,” or as it has been said in different terms, “I am the light of the world.”
The “I am” he declares is the Christ Consciousness, the oneness with God that is our promise. Our awakening to “I am” consciousness is the journey we can undertake, should we desire.
Additional Bible verses speak to this journey, our capacity to realize the “I am” awareness that is ours: “Who believes in me will perform the same works that I do myself and will perform even greater works…” (John 14:12). Also, “At this moment you will not understand what I’m doing, but later you will understand.” (John 13:7).
The Christ Consciousness attained by Jesus enabled the resurrection to be realized for all. The “believe in me and what I do myself” speaks to the consciousness he attained. That achievement is the path we are on, the Christ Consciousness, which allows us to rise into a greater awareness of divine love and wisdom.
Just as Jesus was the first to reach the Christ Consciousness, there are many practical examples of the first in our lives that serve as a demonstration of the possibilities that exist when one is open to guidance and wisdom. What is wonderful is that there will be a second and a third to follow. We see the possibilities in the first man to walk on the moon, the first man to fly, and in sports, a record established, which will subsequently be surpassed. Let practical examples of “the first” in our lives serve as a demonstration of this role, and our opportunity to follow, to awaken, and to join in attaining the Christ Consciousness.
Carrying forward the flight analogy, billions of people have since flown. They did not need to apply the same effort as the Wright brothers, and yet they fly. May we ultimately see the same results stemming from Jesus, the Christ’s “first.”
The way, the truth, the light point to a manner that all who long for can accomplish. This has brought forward our capabilities, our possibilities. It brings to us our opportunity to share with others and to empower all others to make such a choice and to pursue such an intention.
And all the while, a loving God continues to propel us forward, towards awakening as Jesus has through resurrection. Let us give and receive love and kindness and release old ways of thinking that no longer serve us, awakening ourselves to endless possibilities. Let this be seen as the hallmark of this Holy Week, this celebration of the most sacred accomplishment. And let us honor his two commandments, to love God, and to love one another as oneself. Let these represent our awakening to God.
May this Easter awaken a new light on your path, transform your life, and awaken you to infinite possibilities. Happy Easter!
