New Native studies taught at school

Soboba Reservation school teaches roots to students Soboba Band of Luiseño IndiansNoli Indian School teacher Tashina Ornelas keeps photos that depict her family’s history on the classroom wall where she teaches Native history, literature and culture classes. The photos include those of her grandmother Barbara Jean Candelaria, great-grandmother Dorothy Miranda and great-grandfather Eugene Candelaria , great-great-grandmother Catalina “Cate” Lisalda and great-great-grandfather Andrew Miranda and the matriarch of her family, her great-great-great-grandmother Manuella “Nellie” Miranda from the Pechanga Indian Reservation.
