Pool parties are something every girl wants to go to. When you invite kids from other schools to the party, things get interesting. But last Saturday at Hemet High School was no ordinary pool party…
The Lady Bulldogs played host to over a dozen visiting teams for the 2017 Hemet Varsity Girls’ Water Polo Tournament last weekend. Originally, the weather called for rain on Saturday, but as if the heavens were smiling down on these young ladies, the rain held back. Teams came from all over the Inland Empire, from metropolitan San Bernardino to Temecula and various bits in-between. Some of the schools in attendance on Saturday included:
Hemet High (Understandably, the host team wants a piece of the action)
West Valley, Hemet
John W. North High, Riverside
Temecula Valley High, Temecula
Great Oak, Temecula
Chaparral, Temecula
Valley View, Moreno Valley
Cajon High, San Bernardino
Elsinore High, Lake Elsinore
The Hemet Bulldogs put up a good fight, defeating the Elsinore Tigers 7-3, only to fall victim to the Moreno Valley Valley View Eagles by a margin of 10-8.
The Lady Mustangs of West Valley also brought home the big “W” against Redlands’ Citrus Valley Blackhawks, 5-3 in their leg of the tournament.
The top performers in this year’s tournament were the Chaparral Pumas, who clawed their way out of the Cajon Cowgirls’ lassoes 7-3. That likely has fed Temecula’s pride in their schools.
Congratulations goes out to all those who qualified for this year’s tournament, to our local girls for making their own splash this weekend, and much appreciation to those who made the tournament possible.
