Adding to their winning streak, on Saturday night the Historic Hemet Theatre hosted a sell-out performance by The Ultimate Stones – the nation’s top tribute to the music of the legendary Mick Jagger and The Rolling Stones. This time, tickets were still available up to showtime, but sold out just as the concert was starting.
Jim Becker, performing as Mick Jagger, amazed the crowd with the look, sound and energy that has earned the group recognition from across the country, including an appearance on AXS TV’s “World’s Greatest Tribute Bands.”
Becker told the crowd that Hemet is very fortunate to have an exceptional concert venue here in the valley.
“Many of the new high-tech venues where we play do not have the acoustics of this wonderful old theatre,” praised Becker, whose comment is not unusual for HHT – the bands that perform this vintage theatre love the rich sound the room delivers as well as the warmth and energy that the audience exudes. The synergy creates a dynamic concert experience that keeps packing the house for every show.
The string of sold out performance now stands at six. Next up is a tribute to The Doobie Brothers featuring China Grove on Saturday, May 13. Previously known as Doobie, Inc., the group from the Tampa Bay area has a repertoire spanning the many decades and styles of the legendary California group.
Often referred to as “America’s Soundtrack,” the show takes its audience through a musical journey that explores the early Doobie years with iconic hits like “Long Train Running,” “Listen to the Music” and “Black Water.” The journey continues through the Michael McDonald years featuring hits like “Takin’ it to the Streets,” “Minute by Minute” and “What a Fool Believes.”
There are still plenty of tickets left for the Tribute to The Doobie Brothers, May 13 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $22 presale and $25 day of show, available online at or at the theatre ticket office. Tickets are also available at Downtown Deli, 113 N. Harvard St. and the Harvard Street Music Exchange, 134 S. Harvard St.
