NAMI Mt. San Jacinto Golf Classic
A golf fundraiser for the National Alliance on Mental Illness will be held on Friday, May 19 at Golden Era Golf Course located at 19871 Gilman Springs Road, San Jacinto. 8 a.m. registration, 9 a.m. shotgun start. Individual entry fee is $40 and team of four is $150. Registration fee includes green fee, cart, goody bag, 50/50 raffle, gift raffle and door prizes. Hemet Valley Mall Grand Reopening
The Hemet Mall is celebrating its grand reopening on Saturday, May 20 at 10 a.m. Free gift certificates for the first 150 shoppers and free commemorative recycle bags while supplies last. There will be a DJ and live performances. Hemet Valley Mall, 2200 W. Florida Ave., Hemet.

Veterans University at Palm Springs Convention Center
Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) will host the 2nd annual Veterans University on May 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Program starts at 9 a.m. Tickets are free but space is limited. The event will include healthcare and disability benefits, mental health, transportation, and employment services for veterans. Peter Curtis Quartet to perform at DVAC
The Peter Curtis Quartet will perform at Diamond Valley Art Council’s Wine Art and Jazz Music Night, May 20, at 123 N. Harvard St. in Hemet. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m. $20 for members, $25 for non-members. Students are $10 for online presale and $15 at the door.

The Harmoneers’ Chorale Spring Concert ‘A Musical Potpourri’
The concert will be held on May 20 at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Hemet located at 515 E. Kimball Ave. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Donations: $10.

Opening ceremonies for the Global War on Terror Wall of Remembrance

IMPACT Homelessness: A community forum
This free forum will be held on May 27 at 10 a.m. at Hemet Christian Assembly located at 602 E. St. John Place. Panelists will include Brenda Scott, executive director NAMI Mt San Jacinto; Stephanie Hopkins, formerly homeless; Linda Rogers, director of Valley Re-Start Shelter, Inc; Steve Norman, pastor of Hemet Christian Assembly and founder of Hemet GateKeepers; Chief Dave Brown, Hemet Police Department; Stacie Olson, president/founder of Project Hope II; Audra Lee, CASA executive director; Lynne Brockmeier, administrative services manager for Housing, Riverside University Health Systems. The forum will be moderated by Councilwoman Karlee Meyer.
Center Against Sexual Assault (C.A.S.A.) Open House

Ramona Humane Society Fundraiser – Bow-Wow Meow Luau
Help save shelter animals. The Bow-Wow Meow Luau will raise funds for the Ramona Humane Society. Last year, funds from the event assisted nearly 6700 of their shelter animals. The fundraiser will be held at the Hemet Library on Saturday, June 3 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $50 each online. Call (951) 654-8002 for more information.

Grandfathers For Golf offers free golf classes for kids
Grandfathers For Golf sponsors free golf lessons for children ages 7 to 18. Classes begin June 13 and all course fees and classes are free. Beginner’s classes will be held at Echo Hills Golf Course in Hemet and Golden Era Golf Course in San Jacinto. The first classes will be held on Tuesday, June 13 at Golden Era Golf Course, and Wednesday, June 14 at Echo Hills. Classes are from 7:30- 9 a.m. at both locations. Pee Wee classes (ages 5 to 6) will start at 8 a.m. Every child, in addition to nine classes, will receive a uniform shirt and hat and a set of golf clubs for them to keep.
