Fun things to do in the San Jacinto Valley are noticeably fewer and further in between than outlying communities. But the people at Valle Vista Assembly of God brainstormed and created a Community Fun Day!
The event was held next to Orange Blossom apartments in East Hemet, and provided fun in the sun to all who sought it, despite the heat. For the kids, there was a bounce house, yummy treats and learning activities to teach them key principles to help them with their everyday lives.
And of course, everyone got free bottled water and free snow cones. Temperatures were right around the 101 mark, so attendees genuinely needed the relief from the heat. Vendors from across the valley helped fill the cul-de-sac with food, fun and faith. Live entertainment was also provided throughout the day, with various performers singing.

Clothes were provided to those who needed them, free of charge.

Pastor Ruthie Savon describes this event as community outreach, spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to families.
“They can have a place in Heaven. They can be sure of their eternal salvation,” said Savon. “And that’s what this is all about, just sharing Jesus’ love for our community.”
Also present was Pastor Jessie Luther from Feed My Sheep Ministry, Evangelist Tom Tanney and Lifeway Christian Church, who also supported the event. Dr. Richard Bradley was there as part of their health and wellness feature. Speaking of health, Drug Free World had a booth to spread the gift of knowledge about the consequences of substance abuse.
Anyone who attends church regularly will tell you that “charity suffereth long.” The principle of charity was alive here today, as there was a free clothing giveaway. The gently-used items are ready to help the needy in our valley. And the event would not be complete without the Gideons’ presence, as they handed out free Bibles.
The overall goal of this fun day was to provide valley families with one more safe place to enjoy summer, and a place to unite in Christ: “There’s a scripture that says, ‘Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell in unity.’ [Psalm 122] And that’s what we want to share with the community. If we could just all come together in Christ we can reach the world, and that’s what we’re here to do,” said Savon.
As far as getting permission to use the cul-de-sac, event coordinators were blessed to not drop a dime on permits, according to Savon. “We just owe the love and thanks to our loving savior, Jesus Christ.”
