Highlights of the senior Wednesday night dances at Hemet West are the varied themes supported by an attractive clubhouse and decorated accordingly, while dancers show up dressed appropriately to the evening’s theme.
This year will feature themes such as Westerns; Mardi Gras; Valentine’s Day (featuring couples that have met at Hemet West); St. Patrick’s Day; Dancing Through the Decades (from the 40’s); Cruise night, Cinco de Mayo; Jump, Jive, and Swing; Semi-formal Senior Prom; Hawaiian Luau; Roaring Twenties, Sock Hop; Veterans’ Salute; and the Harvest Ball.
There are excellent different dance bands each Wednesday. The ceiling lights dim, replaced by atmospheric multi-colored sparkling lights, and the fun-filled evening of dancing begins. Following is the schedule:
January 3 – Guitar and Melodie
January 10 – Rainbow Cottage
January 17 – Stage Robbers, a western theme
January 24 – Dave Ambrose
January 31 – Rhonda and Showdown

These dances, which are open to the public, are from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and continue throughout the summer. Admission is $6 per person, proper attire is required (no work jeans, tank tops, or shorts), and alcohol is not allowed. Opportunity drawings offer free tickets. Tables have snacks and pitchers of water; freshly brewed tea and coffee are available.
