Great food, staff and company make this hidden treasure a go-to
■ By Melissa Diaz Hernandez/Editor
In a valley where Mexican restaurants are in abundance, El Zarape not only delivers great food, but a great experience. Nestled in a strip mall at the east-end of Hemet, the restaurant provides an inviting atmosphere that makes you want to stay a little while longer.
The staff is attentive and the company is fantastic. Patrons are social and warm, and to top it off, Rocky Zharp entertains. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better!
The family-owned restaurant opened Jan. 16, 2015. They strive to make everything from scratch with fresh ingredients.
I have eaten at El Zarape a couple of times—once with my kids and the other by myself. My kids had a great time, sans tablets or smartphones, went through an entire basket of chips and ate their bean and cheese burritos. It is their go-to!
I have had the chicken tacos, mole enchiladas and shrimp ceviche. On my last visit for dessert, I had the flan. I am not a fan of flan in any way, but thought, if this could win me over, I was sold. And it did!
The horchata is from a mix, but still flavorful. The sangria is smooth and refreshing.
By the way, the shrimp ceviche is my favorite dish on the menu…so far.
El Zarape is located at 4270 E. Florida Ave., Hemet. For more information or to make a reservation, call 951-260-3674. It won’t disappoint.
