A Hemet man is dead, and his stepson and another man are in custody after a brutal stabbing last Sunday, May 13, at a mobile home park on N. State Street, police reported.
In jail on $1 million bail each are the stepson, Alonso Rodriguez, 19, and Mario Delacruz, 20, who police say are suspected of stabbing Rodriguez’ 36-year-old stepfather to death in an attack that involved the older man suffering multiple stab wounds. The victim, whose name is being withheld by the coroner pending notification of relatives, was taken to the hospital where he later died, police said.
While police did not specify the exact address, an independent investigation by The Valley Chronicle determined that the fight happened shortly before midnight Sunday at the Desert Palms Mobile Home Park, 1091 N. State St. in Hemet.
When police, fire, and medical personnel arrived at the scene after receiving a 911 call, their immediate concern was for the victim, who was rushed to the hospital. It was only after an investigation by Hemet Police Department’s Investigations Bureau that the case began to come together and point to the two suspects. Following up on leads officers uncovered on Monday, police located and arrested Rodriguez and Delacruz, who were booked into Riverside County Jail for investigation of homicide.
Police noted this is an active and ongoing investigation and no further information was available at press time.
