A legacy of dedication supporting lifelong learning and Hemet Public Library

The Hemet Library Foundation was formed in 2000 by a group of dedicated local citizens recognizing a need to support the efforts in keeping the Hemet Public Library in fine working order for the needs of the community. The mission to raise funds for furnishings, fixtures, computers, books, databases and educational programs for the Library has been a heartfelt process. Through the tireless efforts of the Foundation, its membership and citizens of the city have raised over $1.2 million to help create an exceptional educational and learning environment which serves to uplift the community and become a catalyst for local economic growth.
As quoted by Charles W. Eliot, an American academic who was selected as Harvard’s president in 1869, “Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.” It is this sentiment that drives the Hemet Library Foundation and its work to raise money to support the library. This year marks a record number of library users and along with the outstanding programs such as the Children’s Summer Reading Program and the Hemet Adult Literacy Program, the Foundation continues to be a force in fundraising efforts, direct mail campaigns, social events and much, much more.
In partnership with the Library Director, Kathye Caines and Friends of the Hemet Public Library (who since 1962 have supported the library in maintaining and operating the library bookstore), the Foundation joins the efforts to help stimulate greater public interest and support of all the programs the Library offers. It is through successful programs such as the annual used book sale, community-wide fund raising events and Books by the Foot that help to further community outreach. The Foundation is dedicated to continue the work to help foster lifelong learning and the invaluable contributions that the Hemet Public Library offers to the community.
The Seventh Annual Hemet Library Foundation Golf Tournament is one way to help support your Hemet Public Library. The Tournament will take place on Saturday, Sept 29. Sponsorship opportunities are available. A delicious Santa Maria style BBQ will be served along with several prizes and awards.
Join your community in supporting the Foundation in any way you can, large or small by working alongside others to make a difference in quality of life for our city.
