On Saturday, Sept. 22, Hemet Police responded to the Sunburst Mobile Home Park just after 5:30 p.m. regarding a man armed with a knife and wanting to kill himself. When apprehended by police, the Hemet man caused abrasions and a fractured hand to officers.
When officers first arrived, they located 25 year-old Delgado inside a bedroom. A male victim was on the floor near the suspect. The male victim had multiple stab wounds to his torso. Delgado was on top of a second victim, a female, when HPD encountered the scene. He was in the midst of attempting to cut the female’s neck with an improvised weapon.
Initially Delgado refused to comply with officers’ instructions to release the female, but dropped the weapon when ordered. Additional officers arrived and prepared a plan to get him into custody. Delgado did not comply with authorities and was combative. Multiple officers sustained injuries when they arrested him.
The male victim was transported to a trauma center and underwent emergency surgery for life threatening stab wounds to his torso. The female victim was medically cleared at the scene and suffered minor lacerations to the neck. The male victim remains in the hospital and is in stable condition. Delgado was transported to Hemet Valley Medical Center for a medical booking clearance. Moses was combative with medical staff, so he required sedation for medical evaluation and treatment.
Chief Webb commented on the incident by saying, “Officers used the utmost restraint in this incident, which could had resulted in a fatal officer involved shooting.”
Delgado is a resident of Hemet and was booked on the following charges: two counts of attempted murder, physical elder abuse, felony resisting an officer, and violation of probation. His bail has been set at $1,050,00 and he is currently being held at Robert Presley Detention Center.
