Motorcyclist from San Jacinto killed in collision

On Sunday, Oct. 7, Hemet Police officers responded to a traffic collision that occurred on San Jacinto Street near Morton Place, one block south of Florida Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and discovered a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle that had collided, and the motorcyclist was injured.
Paramedics treated the man on scene and he was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and passed away. The Riverside County Coroner has identified the motorcyclist as Marco Martinez, a 28 year-old resident of San Jacinto. The driver of the vehicle which collided with the motorcycle, a 73 year-old San Jacinto woman, was injured and transported to the nearest hospital.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling south on San Jacinto Street and the driver of the vehicle was traveling east on Morton Place. The driver of the car pulled out from a stop sign in front of the motorcycle, attempting to turn left onto San Jacinto Street. The motorcyclist was unable to stop and collided into the driver side of the vehicle. At this time, DUI is not suspected to be a factor in this collision.
San Jacinto Street between Florida Avenue and El Nita Lane was closed for approximately three hours while officers conducted the investigation.
