■ Chronicle News / Staff
Lil ‘A’ and the Allnighters will be performing at Derby’s Bar and Grill for a free “Blues Night” show on Friday, Nov. 2.
A passionate quintet of young men playing West Coast blues as only they can, with Legit Harmonica Stylist Alex Lil ‘A’ Woodson leading his band to new heights every time they take the stage.
A young band by all accounts from their first gig in July 2008 to the present they have honed their skills on stage to becoming a well-respected band in the Southern California Blues scene, with two of the best from the current crop of guitar players being fellow Allnighters, are Bill Bates and Geoff Gurrola.
The rock solid rhythm section of Arthur Kraatz on bass, and Johnny Minguez on Drums. Lil “A” a.k.a. Alex Woodson the front man and vocalist for this band, has built his band with all first call players. It is definitely a treat to see this band on stage.
Working together on stage the band is a delight to see, a constant two guitar attack or a mind-blowing harmonica solo and then bringing it all back this band can do this and do it well as it should be played. West Coast, Chicago, Jump Blues, and R&B is their approach to their respected West Coast sound.
Lil ‘A’ and the Allnighters have also supported some of the veterans of the business, backing up some of the greats such as Rod Piazza, Mitch Kashmar, Rick Estrin, Bob Corritore, R.J. Mischo, San Pedro Slim, as well as the Late John “JUKE” Logan and Johnny Dyer.
Lil ‘A’ has also sat in with the top European Bands B.B. and the Blues Shacks, Trickbag, Big Pete, and Till Seidel Band. If West Coast Blues is what you are looking for with a young twist, played with respect to the tradition of the West Coast scene then Lil ‘A’ and the Allnighters are the band for you.information visit www.derbys
