Driving under the influence – traffic collision

According to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Press Release, on October 27, 2018, about 4:10 a.m., officers from the San Jacinto Police Department responded to an injury traffic collision at the intersection of Ramona Expressway and State Street in the City of San Jacinto which initially revealed that Angelica Huaste, 23 years old of San Jacinto was driving a 2017 Toyota Corolla east on Ramona Expressway while Richard Thomas, 72 years old of Yucaipa was driving a 2004 Chrysler Sebring and was making a left turn from northbound State Street to westbound Ramona Expressway. The vehicles collided broadside in the intersection causing major damage to both.

Huaste demonstrated obvious signs of intoxication, said police, who arrested her for suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol. She was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation and later booked into custody at the Cois Byrd Detention Center. Thomas was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.
Personnel of the San Jacinto Police Department Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and the investigation is ongoing. The San Jacinto Police Department wishes to remind drivers not to operate their vehicles while under the influence of alcohol and or drugs and is asking that any witnesses of this collision to please contact Officer Bechtold at 951-654-2702.
