Assistance League of Hemacinto “Thanks for Giving”
Assistance League of Hemacinto is hosting “Thanks for Giving”, a fashion show and luncheon on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 11:30 a.m. at the Salvation Army located at 340 South Palm Avenue in Hemet. Chapter members will be modeling clothes from their Thrift Shop, which will also be available for purchase. Luncheon will be catered by Milano’s Restaurant. Tickets are $20 and available from Judy Atherton 951-575-5185 and Jane Durnwirth 951-658-7931 or at the Thrift Shop at 180 North Girard Street Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.


Charity football game on Thanksgiving
A charity football game will be played at 8:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 22 at Mary Henley Park, 801 S. Kirby St., Hemet. Anyone can join in, but participants are encouraged to bring canned food, clothing, and personal care products – or cash – to donate to the less fortunate. Drinks and snacks will be provided. The game is being sponsored by AOC Athletics.


Hemet Public Library offers genealogy classes
If you’re interested in learning more about your family history, you may want to visit the Genealogy Room at the Hemet Public Library, 300 E. Latham Ave. It is open to the public from Wednesday through Saturday. Regular library hours are from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Trained volunteers are available to help. The Hemet San Jacinto Genealogical Society offers free family research with all of the latest Internet search tools. Upcoming society events include the following:

Bark for Books: First Friday of every month from 4–5 p.m. Practice reading skills by reading out loud to certified therapy dogs.
Book Club: Director’s Bookshelf meets the third Thursday of every month at 1 p.m. in the director’s office.
Diamond Valley Writers Guild: meets the fourth Saturday of every month from 9:30–11:30 a.m.


MSJC Community Orchestra Schedule
Monday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. – Holiday concert: music from various holiday traditions.
Sunday, Mar. 3 at 3 p.m. – First spring concert: Boieldieu harp concerto with the MSJC Orchestra featuring harpist Dr. Vanessa Sheldon.
Monday, May 13 at 7 p.m. – 2nd Spring Concert: Mendelssohn Violin Concerto, featuring an international violinist.
For performances at the San Jacinto Campus, reservations may be made by calling 951-487-3790. Tickets may also be purchased at the box office Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and one hour before showtime.
Tickets can now be purchased online via the MSJC website www.msjc.edu/performingarts where the complete schedule for all music, dance and theater performances are listed.


Hemet Senior Computer Club
The club meets the third Monday of every month from 10 a.m.–noon at Valley-Wide Valle Vista Recreation Center. The club is open to anyone in the Hemet/San Jacinto area who would like to learn and share knowledge of computers, tablets, smartphones, etc. Valley-Wide Recreation Center, 43935 E. Acacia Ave., Hemet.


Celebrate Recovery meetings
Celebrate Recovery meetings are held every week at the following locations:
Mondays, 6:30 p.m., San Jacinto Assembly of God, 300 W. First St., San Jacinto. Tuesdays, 6 p.m., Hemet Christian Assembly, 602 St. John Place, Hemet. Tuesdays, 7 p.m., Community Christian Church, 41762 Stetson Ave., Hemet. Saturdays, 6 p.m., Hemet Valley Baptist Church, 1480 N. Kirby St., San Jacinto.


Widowed Persons Activities Club
Monthly meetings are held at 1:30 p.m. on the second Friday of each month at the Simpson Center, 305 E. Devonshire Ave., Hemet (behind the library). The group often has keynote speakers on topics of interest to members. The club has 50/50 drawings, card bingo, etc. To ensure a good fit, prospective members are encouraged to try up to three activities before joining. FREE 55+ Friendship Craft group meets every Friday 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Salvation Army, Palm and Acacia in Hemet. Join for some fun, fellowship, and free crafts.
