Country western singer Corey McCoy entertained patrons of Derby’s Bar and Grill Saturday night, Dec. 1, with his renditions of songs by Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson, among other C&W stars. McCoy, whose deep bass voice sounds uncanningly like Johnny Cash, says he’s working on an album of his own songs, which should be ready next year. McCoy was among a half dozen local artists who performed Saturday night including Spencer Nicholas, Mike Gonzales, and Blake Truelove among others in what Derby’s called “Musication Live.” The upcoming show Saturday, Dec. 8, will feature the all-star blues band, Lil A & the Allnighters. The free show begins at 9 p.m. Derby’s is located at 2860 W. Florida Ave.
