Last month, a French Valley resident was appointed to the Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District board.
Noah Rau was appointed to the Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District Board of Directors on Monday, Nov. 26 in a unanimous vote.
Rau, a 38-year-old resident of French Valley, was one of three candidates interviewed for an opening created when Matt Duarte resigned his seat in October to take a job in Sacramento. He will serve the remaining two years of Duarte’s term.
Rau is a senior engineer with the Riverside County Department of Waste Resources. He earned an associate’s degree in math and science from Mt. San Jacinto College and both a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering and Masters degree in Business Administration from Cal Poly Pomona.
He is the father of two children and has coached youth basketball, baseball and soccer.
“I feel Valley-Wide is one of the best assets to the community,” Rau said during his interview. “I want to be part of that and guide it into the future.”
John Tribelhorn of Menifee and Irene Jauregui of San Jacinto also were interviewed.
“We welcome Noah to our Valley-Wide team. We’re sure he’ll make a fine addition,” district General Manager Dean Wetter said.
Rau joins fellow board members Jan Bissell and Nick Schouten, who will be sworn in for new four-year terms this month after they were unchallenged in the recent election, and John Bragg and Steve Simpson, whose terms expire in 2020. Members of the elected board serve without compensation.
Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District operates 86 parks and community centers in French Valley, Hemet, Menifee, San Jacinto, Sage and Winchester.
