On Saturday, Jan. 4, the Historic Hemet Theatre launched the first in the new “Friday Nite Live!” concert series with a Tribute to Garth Brooks.
Dean Simmons, known as “The Garth Guy,” thrilled the crowd with his astonishing replication of the look and sound of Garth Brooks. Hundreds of cheering fans were in the house, celebrating the unique combination of rock and roll and country music that has earned Brooks the title of best-selling solo album artist in the country. Two-steppers and line dancers filled the dance floor throughout the night, singing along with every song.
Simmons joked with the crowd between songs, obviously having a great time along with his wife, Kim and the rest of the band members. The group last appeared here early 2017 and were thrilled to perform again for the cheering fans at HHT.
Meanwhile, the next season of Tribute Mania kicked with a Tribute to Bruno Mars on Saturday, Jan. 12, featuring Bruno and the Hooligans. This amazing tribute band included a high stepping male vocalist with the look, sound and moves of Bruno Mars and a very talented group of musicians. Together, they replicate the exciting mix of Funk and R&B that is uniquely Bruno Mars. This show packed the dance floor and kept the audience cheering and clapping from the first song to the last!
The remainder of Tribute Mania Season One includes Tribute to Van Halen (Jan 26), Tribute to Marvin Gaye (Feb 9), The Glen Campbell Story (Feb 23), The Music of John Denver (Mar 9), Tribute to AC/DC (Mar 23), The Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons Tribute (Apr 6), and Tribute to The Doors (Apr 27).
The next “Friday Night Live!” concert will be an appearance by Jerome Robinson and the 2nd Generation Platters on Friday, Feb. 15. Appearing with Jerome will be Elena V performing a tribute to Aretha Franklin.
