Last week, a driver fled the scene after hitting a Hemet middle school student in broad daylight.
On Feb. 6, at about 9 a.m., the Hemet Police Department responded to a hit and run traffic collision which occurred near the intersection of San Jacinto Street and Acacia Avenue in the City of Hemet. Investigators learned that an Acacia Middle School student was struck by a vehicle and injured while walking to school. The student’s injuries were not life threatening and he is expected to make a full recovery. The driver of the vehicle that struck the student fled the scene before police arrived.
An investigation is currently underway and the Hemet Police Department is looking for the driver of a light colored sedan, last seen traveling west on Acacia Avenue from San Jacinto Street. The driver was described as a middle-aged white female adult. The vehicle may or may not have damage to the front end and/or hood.
