Suspect attacks man with fire extinguisher

In the early hours of Monday, Mar. 11, Hemet Police and Fire personnel responded to the 100 block of East Stetson Avenue regarding reports of a male victim being struck with a fire extinguisher. The 30 year-old victim was found unconscious and suffering from head trauma. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he was reported to be in critical condition.
The suspect, 19 year-old Joseph Anzelmo, allegedly fled the scene with the victim’s property. Fortunately a witness had followed Anzelmo, which ultimately resulted in Anzelmo’s apprehension by police.
After his arrest, Anzelmo was taken into custody for the investigation of attempted murder and robbery charges. According to a search of the Riverside County Sheriff’s website, he is currently being held at Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility. His bail has been set at $1,000,000.
