On 12/28/20, at about 1:00 am, a Hemet Police officer was flagged down near the intersection of Florida Avenue and Carmalita Street regarding a man down in the area. Medical aid was summoned, but unfortunately, the man died at the scene. He was only 31 years old.

Investigators learned that a fight, involving several patrons, had taken place outside of a nearby bar. The man’s lifeless body was discovered about 40 minutes after the fight.
The man died of traumatic injuries and his death is being handled as a homicide. At this early point in the investigation, detectives do not yet know if he had been involved in the

earlier altercation. His name is not being released pending notification of family. The east-bound lanes of Florida Avenue between Harvard and Juanita Streets were closed for a few hours while detectives processed the scene for evidence.

Investigators are asking anyone who has dash-cam video from driving through the area or mobile phone video of an altercation that took place in the intersection between 12:15 am & 1:00 am on Monday morning (Sunday night) to kindly contact Hemet Police Investigator Doug Klinzing at 951 765-2400 or dklinzing@cityofhemet.org.
