Lamb Canyon construction project schedule subject to change California Department of Transportation has changed the work schedule for a project to install drainage inlets on Highway 79 from First Street in Beaumont to Gilman Springs Road near San Jacinto that began Monday, Jan. 30. Going forward, construction on northbound lanes will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Wednesday, and from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Thursdays and Fridays. Southbound lane construction will happen between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, and midnight to 5 a.m., Thursdays and Fridays. One of two lanes will be available during work hours. According to Caltrans, the $3 million project, which is expected to complete in late May, is needed to direct water off the highway and into the median, which will reduce the potential for hydroplaning on Lamb Canyon.
