SAN JACINTO MAN GETS 11 YEARS IN PRISON FOR PIMPING Kyle Jason Hargrave, 35, of San Jacinto, was sentenced to 11 years in prison after making a plea deal while facing trial for pimping. Hargrave had been scheduled to go to trial at the Banning Justice Center on Feb. 2, but he instead pleaded guilty to two counts of pimping and one count of making criminal threats, a news release said. The case began in January of 2016 when Hargrave approached a woman as she was walking near a park. Hargrave told the victim that he was starting an escort service that he wanted her to help run for him. The victim agreed to do so because she was allegedly homeless at the time. After two days of living with Hargrave, the victim was forced to take part in a sex act with a stranger at Hargrave’s direction. According to a press release, Hargrave threatened her several times. The victim eventually reported that she was being trafficked, and investigators found a second victim. The Riverside County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force found that Hargrave had posted online advertisements and forced the victim to turn over nearly all of the trafficking proceeds to him, the release said. Hargrave was arrested on Feb. 9, 2016. WINCHESTER: TEEN LINKED TO 3 BURGLARIES ARRESTED A 17-year-old boy was arrested Thursday, Feb. 2, for allegedly breaking into a Winchester business, in what authorities believe was his third burglary in the area. The suspect, whose identity was not disclosed, was booked into Riverside Juvenile Hall on suspicion of burglary and being in possession of burglary tools. Deputies were called to the 30700 block of Benton Road, near Winchester Road, about 1:40 a.m. to investigate reports of a break-in at a commercial outlet, according to Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Daniel Hernandez. The teen was found inside the business, trying to hide and was taken into custody without incident, the sergeant said. THREE HIKERS, A DOG RESCUED IN MT. SJ STATE PARK Three hikers and a dog were airlifted to safety Sunday, Feb. 5, after getting lost in the Mount San Jacinto State Park. The group contacted Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies at around 4 p.m. Saturday and notified deputies that they were lost and didn’t feel comfortable hiking down due to the winter weather conditions. Volunteers with the Riverside Mountain Rescue Unit trekked up to the hikers Saturday evening with supplies and stayed with them overnight, deputies said. A helicopter was dispatched this morning to hoist the three hikers and the dog to safety. No injuries were reported.
