HEMET MAN ARRESTED ON VANDALISM CHARGES

Hemet Sheriff’s deputies responded to a graffiti vandalism scene in the 44200 block of E. Florida Avenue in Hemet the morning of Feb. 22 after a witness flagged down deputies and pointed out that a suspect was observed spray-painting block walls. Officials were able to locate the suspect and identified him as Daniel Contreras, 26, of Hemet. According to a news release by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Hemet Station, Contreras was found with paint on his hands and face along with paint spray can nozzles in his possession at the scene. He is suspected of spraying graffiti reading “DKON” on the block walls. Contreras was arrested and booked into the Smith Correctional Facility on suspicion of felony vandalism. During the investigation, officials discovered approximately six walls at different Hemet locations that had been spray painted with the same paint and graffiti. Investigation on the case is ongoing, and anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to call Sgt. Sargent at the Hemet Sheriff’s Station, 951-791-3400.

TEMECULA HIGH-SPEED CHASE ENDS IN SAN JACINTO

Alonzo Armando Saucedo, 23, of San Jacinto, was arrested Feb. 19 in connection with a burglary in Temecula that involved a police pursuit ending 30 miles away in San Jacinto. Riverside County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD) deputies received a report about a burglary in progress in the 41000 block of Avenida De La Reina in Temecula around 8 p.m., according to a RCSD news release. When deputies arrived at the crime scene, they found a silver Honda Accord leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Deputies reported they were unable to stop the vehicle, prompting a police chase. At one point, deputies used spike strips to try to disable the vehicle. However, Saucedo managed to avoid the spikes and wound up sideswiping a parked vehicle, officials said. The pursuit reached the cities of Hemet and San Jacinto, which resulted in the deployment of the RCSD helicopter. Officials say that soon after, Saucedo got out of the vehicle and ran. Deputies on the ground were unable to find him. Meanwhile, Saucedo continued on surface streets and eventually stopped at a San Jacinto apartment complex near the 100 block of Tiger Lane, officials said. San Jacinto deputies caught up to Saucedo, whom officers said was wearing a ski mask. Inside Saucedo’s vehicle, deputies allegedly found numerous items reportedly linked to the burglary. Saucedo was arrested about 9:50 p.m. on suspicion of burglary, evading law enforcement and violating parole, jail records show. He was being held without bail.
