Hemet Finance Director Jessica Hurst resigns

Recruitment has not yet begun.[/caption] ■ Mary Ann Morris / Editor The city of Hemet is on the hunt for a new deputy city manager/administrative services with the resignation of Jessica Hurst effective Feb. 23. According to insiders, an interim director, Joy Canfield, who retired from the city of Murrieta as administrative services director in September 2016, is slated to begin today. Hurst was hired in Sept. 2014 to replace Rita Conrad, who held the position from 2010 to 2014. Hurst, according to Hemet Councilwoman Karlee Meyer, left the city to work closer to her home and be more available to her two children. “Jessica left everything in good standing and well-organized,” said Meyer. “Joy Canfield has a lot of experience. Between Jessica and Joy, the city is in a good position to move forward.” Recruitment for a permanent replacement has not yet begun, said Meyer. City Manager Alex Meyerhoff could not be reached for comment.
