Burglary victim aids in suspect’s arrest
On May 30, 2017, the San Jacinto Police Department responded to a residential burglary in the 1000 block of Agape Ave. The suspect entered through an open garage door and stole items from a vehicle in the garage including a debit card, cell phones and an iPad. The victim subsequently notified officers that the debit card was used at a Hemet business shortly after the theft. The victim secured photographs of the suspect and his vehicle from the business and turned them over to officers. At approximately 5:30 p.m., the victim notified investigating officers that one of the cell phones had been turned on, indicating its location was at a motel in Hemet. Investigating officers requested assistance from Hemet Police Department to see if the suspect’s vehicle was at the location; HPD located the vehicle. San Jacinto officers responded and with the assistance of HPD. located the vehicle owner, Chad Arvisu, 27, of Hemet. Further investigation determined Arvisu was the suspect of the residential burglary. He was arrested and later booked into Larry Smith Correctional Facility. Items stolen during the burglary were recovered and returned to the victim. HEMET — On Tuesday, May 30, three people were hospitalized with minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash. The minor-injury traffic collision happened at the intersection of S. Lyon and W. Stetson avenues in Hemet. Hemet Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene of the crash about 2 p.m., after several people called 911 to report the accident. According to witnesses calling into 911, two female drivers and a small child sustained minor injuries and were all still inside their wrecked vehicles, requesting medical assistance. An on-duty California Department of Fish and Wildlife game warden was one of the first officials at the scene of the accident, checking on the victim’s injuries while assisting with traffic control until police and fire officials arrived. Upon their arrival, emergency first responders located two vehicles, described as a red Volkswagen Beetle and a burgundy Nissan Frontier pickup truck. Both vehicles sustained moderate to major front-end damage. After the crash, the truck was left in the intersection and the VW came to rest about 100 yards away on Stetson. During their investigation, multiple witnesses to the collision told officers the VW was traveling westbound on Stetson when the driver reportedly failed to stop for a red light and smashed into the Nissan truck that was turning northbound onto Lyon Avenue.
