Abstract art series workshop A workshop held from 6–8 p.m. on Aug. 18 at Destination Coffee Bar & Bistro, 100 W. Florida Ave., Hemet, will focus on abstract art. Join us for the second class in this four-series workshop. No experience is needed. Wine, coffee and desserts will be served. $35 per person. The Gin Game at The Ramona Bowl The show runs Friday and Saturday, Aug. 18-20, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Ramona Hillside Playhouse, 27402 Ramona Bowl Road, Hemet. Reserved seating is $15. This play, the winner of the 1978 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, uses a card game as a metaphor for life as two players in a nursing home battle for supremacy. Golf Classic to benefit Hemet Public Library reading programs From 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m., Sept. 16, Golden Era Golf Course Community Center, 19871 Gilman Springs Road, San Jacinto, will host a golfing fundraiser to benefit the Hemet Public Library’s Adult Literacy and Children’s Reading Programs. Galway Downs The horse show on Sept. 23–24 is a Championship Show for Peruvian Paso Horses hosted by the Mission Trails Peruvian Paso Horse Club. There is an 8 a.m. start time for both days.
