DVAC plein air art show

Evolution of LGBTQ literature

On Oct. 5 at 7 p.m., the MSJC San Jacinto Campus and Western Science Center presents “Where was This Book When I Was Growing Up? The Evolution of LGBTQ Adolescent Literature” with Michelle Stewart from the MSJC English Department. Admission: members are free, nonmembers are $8, and students are $5. Free Hebrew reading crash course

A Hebrew reading crash course is available for beginners and intermediates at Temple Beth Am in San Jacinto. There are five Saturday courses from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Oct. 7 to Nov. 4. Hemet Fire Department hosts open house

Join the Hemet Fire Department as they open their doors to the public Saturday Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Hemet Fire Station 1, 220 N. Juanita, Hemet. Fire safety displays, an antique fire engine, rescue demonstrations, Mercy Air helicopter, snow cones and a hands-on safety trailer. Free admission.

2017 Community Health Fair

Hemet Valley Medical Center is hosting a community health fair on Saturday Oct. 14 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the parking lot across from the Hemet Valley Medical Center, 1117 E. Devonshire Ave. at San Jacinto Street. There will be heart health and stroke information, free flu shots, a kid’s zone and community center and more. BBQ lunch is limited and on a first come, first served basis.

Temecula Greek Festival

St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church is sponsoring the Greek Festival at the Temecula Civic Center, 41000 Main St. in Temecula, Oct 14-15. Food, live music and activities for the kids. Admission is $2; kids under 12 are $1. U.S. military, law enforcement and firefighters are free with proper ID. Hemet Senior Computer Club

The club meets the third Monday of every month from 10 a.m. - noon at Valley-Wide Valle Vista Recreation Center.
