Even if you were not a Santana fan “back in the day,” this performance is one that you simply must experience for yourself.[/caption] ■ By Susan Carrier / Contrubuted Tribute Mania continues at the Historic Hemet Theatre this month featuring the hits from two distinctly different styles of classic rock. While ticket sales are winding down for this Saturday’s Tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd, they are heating up fast for the Tribute to Santana on Saturday, Feb. 24. It was September 2016 when Smooth Sounds of Santana last visited the theatre. Their performance was so stunning that fans on the dance floor just stopped to stare at the percussion show unfolding before them. Even if you were not a Santana fan “back in the day,” this performance is one that you simply must experience for yourself. Smooth Sounds of Santana recreates the look and sound of Carlos Santana, replicating the music, note by note, from the legendary early days to material from all eras of Santana’s 30-plus year history. The show features all the biggest hits as well as some lesser known classics that will thrill even the most die-hard fans. Led by Gary Albano, seven seasoned musicians recreate the sound that earned Santana eight Grammy Awards and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Among Santana’s greatest hits are “Black Magic Woman,” “Evil Ways,” “Oye Como Va,” and “The Game of Love.” Showtime for Tribute Mania events is 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are $22 presale and $25 the day of show. Other tributes in the current concert series are Bob Seger, Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty. HHT also features classic films for just $5 every Monday and Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. Coming up on Monday, Feb. 12, “The Way Ahead” (1944) starring David Niven, Stanley Holloway and James Donald, and on Tuesday, Feb. 13, “Born to be Wild” (1938) starring Ralph Byrd, Doris Weston and Ward Bond. Event tickets are available online at www.PurplePass.com or at the theatre ticket office. Ticket office hours are Monday thru Friday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are also available at the Downtown Deli, 113 N. Harvard St., Hemet and the Harvard Street Music Exchange, 134 S. Harvard St., Hemet. Information on all theatre events are available at www.HistoricHemetTheatre.com or by calling the ticket office, 951-658-5950. A weekly email blast of upcoming events is available by enrolling on the website.
