Motorcyclist, passenger die in head-on collision with pickup
EN Media Productions/John StrangisIn the early hours of Friday, May 25, Cal Fire responded to a head-on collision in which a motorcycle going the wrong way on Ramona Expressway plowed into a pickup truck . Arriving crews located a grey Toyota Tundra pickup truck in a ditch and a severely damaged motorcycle in the roadway. Two victims were riding the motorcycle at the time of the crash, both were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The collision caused a graphic scene with at least one of the riders dismembered. Ramona Expressway was shut down from Rider Street to Lakeview Avenue, near Lakeview Hot Springs, pending arrival of the coroner. According to CHP, the motorcycle riders were heading the wrong way on Ramona Expressway when they collided with the pickup truck at high speed, killing both. The driver of the pickup was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The collision is under investigation, and it’s unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. The names of the victims are pending release by the Riverside County Coroner.[/caption]
