These teams in particular have done just that for the Spring 2018 season: West Valley Softball came 2nd in league, won the CIF Division 5 wildcard game, but lost in their CIF round 1 game (1-3). Boys volleyball won in Mountain Pass league, but lost in their CIF D3 1st round game. In swim, multiple athletes competed at the Division 3 preliminaries: Boys 200 medley relay placed 17th Elikai Crompton placed 5th in the 50 yard free Realee Taylor placed 31st in the 100 butterfly and 27th in the 100 backstroke Elikai Crompton placed 3rd in the 100 freestyle Mallory Hoch placed 26th in the 500 free Boys 200 free relay placed 15th Jake Paulino placed 7th in the 100 backstroke CIF division 3 Finals results: Boys 200 medley relay - 16th Elikai Crompton - Boys 50 yard freestyle 4th Elikai Crompton - boys 100 yard freestyle 3rd Boys 200 freestyle relay 12th Jake Paulino - Boys 100 yard breaststroke 6th In track, multiple athletes competed at the Division 3 preliminaries: Boys 4x100 relay placed 25th. Alex Deal placed 30th in the 110 Hurdles Joseph Halman placed 14th in the 400 Jeremy Lilly placed 31st in the 400. Girls 4x400 relay placed 38th. Boys 4x400 relay placed 13th. Elijah Scott who placed 26th in the Boys Discus (breaking the school record) and Ismail Turner who placed 6th in the 400 advanced to the CIF Divisional Finals. Both worked hard all season and represented West Valley very well. Ismail Turner finished 3rd in the Boys 400 and advanced to the CIF Track and Field Masters meet at El Camino College. The top 6 finishers in this race advance to the CIF State meet on June 1-2. San Jacinto Two teams made it to the postseason, boys volleyball and softball. Volleyball lost in the 2nd round to San Gabriel Academy & Softball lost in a wild card game to Pomona Catholic. Preliminary athletes qualified for the CIF “Prelims” in track that were held at Trabuco Hills Saturday May 12. Those athletes were Kevin Maria, Patrick Mara, Martin Graise, Wayne Thomas, Howard Matthews, Martin Hernandez (alternate), Anaya Crouch, Payton Cartney and Valeria Araujo. Only one athlete, Kevin Maria qualified to move on to the CIF Finals with a second place finish in the long jump. Tahquitz Baseball won first round against Laguna Beach 3-1. The Titans hosted Sierra Canyon and their results will be posted. Hemet saw their baseball, track, swim, boys’ golf and boys’ tennis teams make it to postseason. From their Division 4 round one game, the baseball boys stood and delivered with a score of 2-nil against Alhambra. Congratulations are well in order to our young athletes for a job well done across the San Jacinto Valley in the 2017-2018 school year.
