Supporters celebrate with tasty BBQ

BBQ Celebrants at King-Stone Recovery.[/caption] ■ By Dennis Fletcher / Contributed Sixty-one hungry celebrants at the King-Stone Sober Living Recovery facility in Hemet attended a BBQ last Saturday to celebrate the addition of a new home for women. The family environment at King-Stone offers affordable accommodations to men and women in recovery who are serious about sobriety. King-Stone has served residents recovering from alcohol and drug use since 2011. King-Stone homes are located in Hemet and Moreno Valley as well as Riverside. All homes are within walking distance of 12-Step meetings, transportation hubs, supermarkets, and libraries. The family environment has a zero-tolerance policy for drug and alcohol use. Each home is conducive to personal growth and has convenient, in-house A.A. and N.A. meetings. Yale Hemet.[/caption] Bonnie Riley-O’Connell, house manager of the Hemet housing complex, is a lifelong resident of the City of Hemet. At the BBQ, she said, “We are celebrating the acquisition of an additional house to our facility that will bring our total capacity to 40 men and women. Our housing is separate for men and women, including a men’s lounge and a women’s lounge, full kitchen, patio and private rooms for two to four residents. We have helped many people become successful in reaching personal goals such as gaining employment, reuniting families and securing independent living.” The food was expertly prepared by E. J. Rozell, a resident, who graduated from the Culinary Institute of New Orleans, where he worked in the great kitchens as Chef of the Sheraton New Orleans, Delmonico’s, and Galitoias…all 5-star restaurants in New Orleans. King-Stone Sober Living Recovery has a strict work schedule that includes attending at least three 12-Step meetings a week. The 12-Step meeting for Narcotics Anonymous on Sunday, 7-8 p.m., is open to the public.
