Lucerne Drive May 30.[/caption] The Hemet Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 1200 block of E. Lucerne Drive last Wednesday, May 30, that, according to numerous 911 callers, had flames shooting out of the roof of this single story family home. Arriving crews located a residence with an ongoing attic fire with flames showing. Firefighters commenced an aggressive fire attack achieving knockdown in approximately 20 minutes. Firefighters remained on the scene for mop-up operations until around 9 p.m. The homeowner evacuated the residence at the time the fire started and was not injured, but the roof of the residence suffered significant damage and was rendered uninhabitable. No injuries were reported and at least one resident was displaced. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Hemet Fire Department, suggesting that it may have been electrical in nature. — John Strangis, EN Media Productions
Can You see your house numbers on your mailbox and/or house?
According to Lt. Eric Dickson of the Hemet Police Department, another police department put this together and thought it was a very good reminder for everyone. When you have lived at the same address for a number of years, you rarely pay attention to your house numbers. For police officers, EMS, and fire departments that may be responding to your house in the event of an emergency, your house numbers are what they are looking for. Make it a point, to LOOK at your numbers to see if: All of the numbers are still there and are large enough to be easily seen from the street, and Any landscape vegetation has grown over them limiting visibility to first responders. If you can see them, then so can first responders. If not, well...,English, Valley Chronicle: Thu, Dec 15, 2022
