[/caption] ■ By Susan Carrier / Contributed Jerome Robinson is a well known local celebrity. Back in the day, Jerome was the lead singer for the 2nd Generation Platters, performing across the country and around the world. These days, the master entertainer has slowed down a bit, but still shares his amazing talents with fans at the local Elks club and occasional gigs at HHT and around southern California. On Friday June 29 at 7 p.m., Jerome will bring his passion for gospel music to the Historic Hemet Theatre with a show titled, “Jerome Robinson’s Gospel Review.” The show will feature Jerome along with Leon Meyer, the Tri-City Gospel Choir under the direction of Didi Jackson, and special guests Zelyne Rudolph and Elena V. Tickets for the show are $15 presale and $18 day of show, available at the box office or online at PurplePass.com. Meanwhile, the Tribute Mania Concert Series at HHT continues with a Tribute to The Doobie Brothers on Saturday June 23 and Kenny Cetera’s Chicago Experience on Saturday July 7. It has been nearly two years since Kenny Cetera first brought his tribute show to the Historic Hemet Theatre. Kenny is the younger brother of Peter Cetera, who was the lead vocalist for the original Chicago Transit Authority, formed back in 1967. Kenny’s voice sounds exactly like his brother’s, making this show the best tribute to Chicago in the country. [/caption] Chicago is one of the world’s best-selling groups of all time, second only to The Beach Boys among U.S. rock bands. And although best known for that horn section, Chicago was one heck of a rock and roll band. Their mega hit “25 or 6 to 4” contains one of the greatest guitar riffs of all time. Other top hits include “Beginnings,” “Make Me Smile,” “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?,” “Saturday in the Park,” and “Feeling Stronger Every Day.” Tickets for the Kenny Cetera’s Chicago Experience are selling fast, but will likely still be available day of show. Other upcoming concerts in the Tribute Mania Concert Series include tributes to The Doobie Brothers (June 23), The Bee Gees (July 14), The Eagles (August 4), and Abba (August 18). Showtime for all Tribute Mania concerts is 7 p.m., with doors open at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are $22 presale/$25 day of show. HHT also features classic films for just $5 every Monday and Tuesday evening at 7 pm. Coming up on Monday June 25, Charlie Chan in Egypt (1935) starring Warner Oland, Pat Paterson, and Thomas Beck, and on Tuesday June 26, Aces and Eights (1936) starring Tim McCoy, Luana Walters, Rex Lease. Information on all theatre events is available at www.HistoricHemetTheatre.com or by calling the ticket office, (951) 658-5950. A weekly email blast of upcoming events is available by enrolling on the website. Event tickets are available online at www.PurplePass.com or at the theatre ticket office. Ticket office hours are Monday - Friday 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Tickets are also available at the Downtown Deli, 113 N Harvard St and the Harvard Street Music Exchange, 134 S Harvard St.
