Soboba Foundation donates 100 toys for children

San Jacinto College Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE) Program. The Soboba Foundation generously donated 100 toys for the children of the CARE program parents. The event was held on Dec. 15 in the San Jacinto Campus cafeteria. Students from the San Jacinto High School MSJC Upward Bound program helped the youth with activities while the parents listened to information about the Upward Bound program according to Leslie Salas, director of the CARE program. MSJC student Alondra Hernandez, 25, of Hemet attended the holiday event with her three girls, ages two, five and seven. “I think it’s a really good program. They show you a lot of support, which I really do love. Trying to be a mom and go to school full time can be a little overwhelming,” Hernandez said. CARE is a state-funded program designed to provide assistance and support for single parent, head-of-household who are participants of the CalWorks/TANF, EOPS students. The main goal is to help obtain a degree, certification, transfer and/or marketable job skills. CARE is a supplemental support program of the EOPS (Extended Opportunity Program and Services) at Mt. San Jacinto College.
