Community Development offers menu of new restaurants, businesses

■ Hemet Police Department / Contributed Hemet citizens have posted questions on the Hemet Police Department’s online Facebook page asking about new businesses coming to town. The department researched and posted the following list of new businesses that are in the works as a way of publicizing some positive news. Permits have been issued for the remodel and expansion of the old Coco’s building located at Florida and Sanderson avenues. The new occupant will be the Habit Burger Grill, which is well known for their Charburgers (100 percent fresh ground beef grilled over an open flame) and their Tempura Green Beans. Look for that to open in August. In the same shopping center and in the former Stater Bros Market, Grocery Outlet will be opening a second store in Hemet. Their permits are ready to go now, the city reports. You can also look out for Hibachi Grill to open in the former Mimi’s location at 1778 W. Florida Ave. The restaurant expects to be ready for final inspection in the next few weeks. Tenant Improvement plans have been submitted for the former Millie’s Restaurant at 2020 E. Florida Ave. for a Wild Crab restaurant serving seafood. A McDonald’s restaurant is opening in the former Kmart building at State Street and Stetson Avenue, and a map for additional commercial enterprises has been submitted to the city. The former Harvester Building, located at 611 W. Florida Ave., has been a longtime eyesore, but a new owner is planning on refurbishing the building to open an automotive and muffler shop at the location. This project is in “plan check” status with the city. Finally, at the Winco Center, on the west end of town, the new Chase Bank and Starbucks coffee shop will be opening by early May.
